Another Monday and time for a Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday Challenge.

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was pretty busy. I have been working on scrapbook retreat items. I still have a lot left to do. It was gloomy and rainy yesterday so I didn't feel so bad staying in my scrap room. 

So with the Pirate theme in mind for this weeks challenge, here is a birthday card.

I think it turned out kinda cute.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday # 74 - Birthday Bash

This weeks FCCB Challenge me Monday is Birthday Bash.

I can always use more Birthday cards in my stash.

I have been trying to use my Imagine more and more. So this card is a combo of the Imagine and other cuts from my Cricut.

I think this is one of my favorite cards recently- just really like the soft and bright colors together.

Pink Cricut Guest Designer Project ~ Bon Appetite!

Today I am a Guest Designer over at Pink Cricut. On January 25th, Sarah announced her new Pink by Design Team and I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of them. You can click here to see all the new members. It is a privilege to be among this group of talented crafters.

As many of you know, I love to cook and try new recipes. With that said, I also like to scrap my favorite recipes. I scrap them all as 8x8 page layouts and keep them in albums with page protectors so when I cook, the pages stay nice and clean.

My guest designer project today is an 8x8 layout of one of my son's favorite dishes and what we usually have on Christmas mornings. I can't believe I haven't scrapped it until now. I came across this pretty french blue and yellow patterned papers and they seemed just fitting for this layout. I used 5, yes 5 different Cricut carts on this layout!

Here's How I Did it...

Pattern paper: Little Yellow Bicycle-Cornflowers and October Afternoon-Seaside

All other paper is Bazzill and scraps from my paper stash

Quick card I was working on this weekend during the hop

While I was watching over all the fun during the Bug Hop. I was working on a graduation card.

I found some paper that had the name of the school for this graduate.I just had to use it.

The card is a 5" square card. I used the tiger from Create a Critter and the Gown from 3 Birds on Parade. The hat was from a sticker pack I picked up along the way. I think it turned out quite cute.

I am going to link this up to the Peachy Keen Let's face it Friday challenge which is Designers Choice this week and My Craft Spot which is Cute Critters.

Here's how I did it...

Grillin' n Chillin' Bug Hop starts in just one day!!

Yeah! only 1 day until we start the Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop.

Congratulations Graduate!

OK- so with my BFF making all those graduation cards, I was inspired.

This was super quick. Seriously, I think this took me maybe 20 minutes. Sometimes, it amazes me that I can get a card done that quickly. 

Other times, I can start a project  and then stare at it for hours, even days before I can finish it. Sometimes, I even start all over. So I guess when I get a card that goes quick it all evens out.

Happy Easter - Part 2

As promised in my post yesterday, here are pictures of my little treats I made to take to my friends house for Easter.

The treat boxes were for my friend, her kids, and her mom. I filled them with jelly beans and other sweets. My way of saying thanks for having us over for Easter dinner. 

I have to thank Saundra at Luv Scrapping Together for the inspiration. 

I cut my box file so the front of the carton measures 2" wide by 3" tall.

Sentiments were a mix/combo of parts of sentiments from Scrappy Moms stamps and My Pink Stamper stamps. The Hoppy Easter was a wood mounted stamp I had  in my drawer and the got eggs, I wrote.

Most of the cuts were cut at 2" from Create a Critter, Simply Charmed and 3 Birds on Parade.

The post-it-note holders were for my friend and her mom, they are both scrapping pals of mine.

I found the post it notes at Target in the $1 bin. The pencil cut is from Locker Talk. The paper portion slides into a 3.5" x 5" acrylic picture frame so it sits a bit at an angle.

Finally my Cake pops- well, what is left of them. I forgot to take a picture of all of them before they were eaten. These look pretty pathetic. Ears are coming off, eyes have already fallen by the wayside and one lonely little chick is all that is left. LOL- they look like something that the neighbor boy from Toy Story took apart.

This is what they were suppose to look like---I gave it my best shot. 

The bunnies were made with carrot cake and the chicks were made with chocolate cake. Though they didn't look the best, they did taste good. It was like being at the MN state Fair eating Easter cake on a stick--LOL!

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Birds and Butterflies

Happy Friday!!! I can' t believe it is Easter weekend. That means this Friday is even more Happy for me since my office is closed, so an extra long weekend for me- yeah!!

The Frosted Designs DT was challenged to come up with some inspiration projects using birds and butterflies to help you get the creative juices flying.

Well, my inspiration project is a a cute little card. Not the colors you would think of for butterflies and birds. Not to mention, the fluttering creature on the card  is a Bird-er-fly! Yes, I made that up. LOL!

A Weekend Working on Easter projects

Hey everyone, it is Sunday night and I am typing up some posts for this week while watching the Amazing Race- love that show. 

It was cold and windy this weekend in MN so it was a good day to catch up on some challenges. 

I was working with scraps and tags this weekend. This is what I came up with for an Easter picture to decorate my living room. I am really happy how it turned out. it measures 8" x8.

The tags were purchased at the local craft store- I think there were 25 in a pack. 

I have had them for more about 2 years. The papers were all scraps from my scrap box. 

The Hoppy Easter sentiment was stamp I picked up recently for $2. 

The Daisy is a sticker, again in my stash for a very long time.  Originally there were three on the sheet, but this was the only one left. 

The felt butterfly I found in the Easter candy section at Target with the Easter card display.

I think this is the only newer item on this project other than the frame, that I have not had in my craft closet for a long time. 

It's kinda fun to discover those items I have not looked at for months. It's like going to the store without spending money! LOL.

I used 3 Birds on Parade and Simply Charmed Cricut carts to cut the chicks and bunny. The bunny face is from Peachy Keen.

Tea Time

Hey Everyone. Well, I had plans to craft all day in my little corner of our house. It's actually a room where we keep the family computer, is my real job home office and is my craft space. So you can imagine the space I have for crafting is very small. There is a closet where I keep most of my crafty stuff. So I am in the closet alot! LOL.

It was going to be a great couple days of crafting since the forecast here in MN is for a big winter storm that could drop 5"-15" of snow on us depending on which weather forecast you listen to. Then 12:30 pm came and everything went dark, I mean the power went out. Seriously! Ok, perhaps a line was down with all this wind, no problem, might be out for an hour or so. Nooooo, it was out for almost 3 hours due to a sub station something or other.

Had to listen to my son declare every 10 minutes how this was not fun for him. Only thing he could really do was his homework, which I think worked out well :)

Finally, things powered back up and the family is back in their comfort zone with the heat on, laptops booted up and the sound of TV in the background. I took a nap during the outage so am well rested to carry on with my craft plans. 

Before the power outage, I was just finishing up this little treat card to enter into the Cricut Cardz Cup of Cheer Challenge.

I learned how to make this about a year ago when I attended a Stampin' Up workshop. It was such a great Idea I had to share it with you~thanks Tonya!

I apologize for the long post, but I think pictures along with directions for this are important. I do hope you give it a try, they are super easy and fun to give. you could even insert candy or gum instead of tea.

Here's how I did it...

supplies I used

Cut main strip of paper 3.5" x 10.5"

Score at 3.5", 4" and 7" from one end.

Paper cut to 10.5" wide x 2.5" tall

I then cut away diagonally, half of the one square which will be come a pocket to hold a tea bag.

Fold at all the scorelines and glue only bottom edge of the triangle piece to make a pocket.

Fold in and glue bottom edge only of triangle on left to make pocket for tea

Cut 2 squares for frame on front of card. One measuring 2.75"x2.75" and another 2.5"x2.5". You could do a scallop circle, oval or any shape you like here to fit your design. I also chalked the edges.

I used a 18" piece of ribbon, found the center and placed this at the center of the spine of the card.

Attach the square frame on top of the ribbon on the right panel, which will be the front of your card. This will keep the ribbon securely in place.

Next I cut my cute little bird for the front, but you could use any image you like. I used the bird on page 48 of 3 Birds on Parade cartridge and cut it at 3" along with all the layers.

But first, I wanted her to be holding a cup for her tea, so I welded a cup from Gypsy Wanderings to the base layer of the bird at 1". 

I also I wanted to the bird to have the little feathers on the top of her head, so I used the top layer from the bird on page 49 also cut at 3"

Once I had her all pieced together, I added her to the front of the card with pop-dots.

I also cut a little bubble for the sentiment from age 39 of 3 Birds on Parade at 2.85". I know it sounds big, but the image is tiny to start with- this yielded the actual cut image to be about 1" wide by .75" tall.

The last step is to add a 2.75" square box r any shape you like on the inside with your favorite sentiment and insert a pack of tea into the pocket. Now your ready to fold it up and tie it closed and ready to give to a friend.

I added some stickles to the steam, a squiggle eye on the bird, some white gel pen doodles and a heart on the mug using a CM heart punch.
