Turtles and Ice Cream!

If you are not aware- I have been traveling the last few days and am in Cancun. The temperatures are very warm and we have had some rain, but the afternoon sun has been perfect for laying by the pool and on the beach. Even did some snorkling this morning.

But, the coolest thing of the trip was when the bellman told us of a turtle release earlier tonight right on the hotel beach. So, we took a detour from our dinner route to the beach.

Two turtle nests had hatched late this afternoon near the hotel beach resulting in about 300 baby sea turtles.

You can see the babies in one of two boxes of turtles brought  to the beach to release.
The hotel staff then let us hold the babies and place them on the beach so they could walk into the ocean.

Not every day you get to release sea turtles into the ocean. The sad part is that  maybe 10% of these baby turtles, if lucky, will survive to be an adult turtle.

The hotel told us there are about another 2000 eggs yet to hatch!

Now the night could not get any better unless it involved fondue and ice cream. Yup, your reading right. After dinner my husband and I splurged at a Hagen Daas  ice cream shop. They had what they call ice cream fondue.

Look at this desert- so yummy.
Those are 16 mini ice cream balls in 4 flavors on the left, and apples, cookies, bananas and brownies on the right with strawberry sauce and warm milk chocolate for dipping. Oh my!!!

So sad when vacations end but you take home great memories like these.
I just had to share this with you all.

Have a great night!

I think fall is beginning to be one of my favorite season. I don't like that winter is close behind it, but do like the feel and smell of the fall air, the fall colors and the great fall foods.

So my card for this challenge is quite simple.
I found this cute pattern leaf paper the other day- it is so cute.

Hope you will join us this week for a leafy fall project.

Standard A2 card base
Leaves/layers cut at 3/75" from CM Cheerful Season

Cricut 360 Challenge #11 For a Heroe... Commemorating 9/11

Yeah it's Friday!!

And before I write anything more, I have to say Happy Birthday to my son.
He turns 23 today.
Where has the time gone!

ok, now onto today's business.

We have another great challenge this week over at Cricut 360
This week the challenge is about commemorating all the heroes of 9/11.

9/11 is one of those days in our history that we all will remember exactly where we were and what we were doing on that day.

The days that followed, I remember feeling proud to be an American.  These may be song lyrics, but it is true.
How the country came together those weeks that followed was amazing.

It is an honor to create a card to remember the many heroes of that day, the friends & families effected and the lives lost.

So here is my card- patriotic colors of course.

Here's how I did it...

Standard A2 size card
Paper from Memory Keepers Yankee Doodle 6x6 stack
Medallion/layers cut at 4" from Independence Day Cart
Sentiment from MPS Freedom Rocks Stamp set
Ribbon from my stash
Stickles and chalk

Trip photos- finally.

Who knew it would take me so long to get the photos from my great adventure overseas off the camera and posted. Well, better late than never.

So here are a few photos from the Mediterranean cruise I was on a few weeks back.
Liberty of the Seas- Our home for the week
Famous Casino in Monte Carlo- look at those cars!
Tower of Pisa
yes, everyone has to try one of those funny tower pictures.
Huge lemons in Sorento- they are known for all the lemons. This was in a candy shop that had lemon chocolate covered almond candies. Of course, I bought some!
Pizza making for lunch in Sorento-YUM!

Colosseum in Rome- Amazing!
Me and a colleague, Maria, in Rome by the Trevi Fountain

Throwing a coin and making a wish at the Trevi fountain- "more scrap stuff, please"

 St. Peter's Square in Rome

What beautiful places. I will need go back to each place and speed some time. The food, the architecture and the people are all wonderful.

Ok- so traveling again the rest of this week for work, so tonight I need to spend some time with Cricut so I have something to post the rest of the week.

I have been crafting but working on things for my scrapbook retreat that is coming up in October.

It is a Halloween theme so lots of fun "spooky" stuff. I will let you all in on it after the retreat. Can't let any of my secrets out since these ladies read my blog- at least I think they do.

Have a great day.
