Oh no, here comes the SNOW!!

Well for anyone in the upper Midwest, you know they are predicting a huge snowstorm, rain, sleet, you name it they have it in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Looks like I will hope to be in the part of the state to get the snow,  not the sleet.

With the snow on my mind, I found a great snowman SVG file over at Treasurebox Designs. It is part of the snow family set.
Yup, with lots of snow in the forecast, we will have plenty to shovel.
The sentiment is from the BugBites Mistletoe stamp set.

I am going to link this up over at the Sara Hamer Designs link up party this week and at My Craft Spot for the "Make us Laugh" challenge

Stay warm and safe everyone!!

Paper from my scrap box
Snow man and layers sized to 4" in SCAL
Sign sized to 2" in SCAL

Green with Envy Challenge Card

After having yesterday off from work, today seems like a Monday. We really need more of those 3 day weekends. It's a travel week for me which means I will be traveling the rest of the week. Going south to San Antonio. Hope I find time to seek out a scrapbook store. If anyone knows of a good one near the river walk, please let me know.

Little Scrap Pieces has a "green" challenge going this week. Here is what I came up with.
This card really  makes me think of spring even though we had 3 inches of snow last night.
Looks like this snail would love to be able to fly...

Here's How I did it...
Standard A2 base card
Cloud and green papers for snail shell printed on my Imagine from Hopscotch cartridge
Snail/layers cut at 3.5" from Nate's ABCs
Mat cut to size on my Gypsy from Lacy Labels
Sentiment from BugBites All Year Round stamp set
Twine from My Mind's Eye

Happy President's Day

I am lucky enough to have had the day off today. Hope some of you did as well. I spent my doing a few cards for some challenges.

I am a dedicated follower of the Fantabulous Cricut blog and try to participate in their Challenge Me Monday challenges as much as possible. This week the challenge is to use fabric, lace, or trim on your project.
Here is what I came up ...
I know this may look like a carry over from Valentine's Day, but  this truly is not the case.

The inspiration came from a few new toys in my scrap room that I wanted to use. Along with the Formal Occasions Cricut cartridge, I just got the Teeny Tag Greetings stamps from Emma over at My Creative Time in the mail and had to give them a try. There are so many stamps in this set and can be used on just about any card.

So with the challenge in mind, I decided on a simple card using the heart from the Formal Occasions cartridge. I like how the lace around the edge helps it pop off the brown paper.

Here's how I did it....
Standard A2 base card size
Brown paper is from Stampin' Up, Pink dots from My Mind's Eye and the rest from my scrap stash
Heart/layers cut at 5" from Formal Occasion
Mesh and Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folders
Sentiment from My Creative Time Teeny Tag Greetings stamps set
Lace from my stash

An FCCB Challenge Me Monday card

This weeks challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut is Fun with Puns. How easy, right.
I am not sure why this challenge was so hard for me. I think I was trying to find something perhaps other than the common things out there. All I know is the creative juices were not flowing well this week.

I ended up with two different cards for this one, but I like the card with the chair the best.

The unique thing about this card, besides that I love PB&J, is the purple strip background paper is a paint ship from Home Depot. I am hoping to do more things with the extra paint chips I have.

Gotta get back to working on some projects for a blog hop next weekend. Have a great week.

Here's How I did it....

Paper for chair card from Authentique
Card base for PBJ is from Campin' Critters cut at 4.25x4.57" with mat sized at 3.97"x3.66"
Chair/layers cut at 4" from Formal Occasions cart
Border punch from EK
PBJ/layers from Lettering Delights
Sentiments from My Scrappy Moms Charmed Life stamp set

The Valentine's are in the Mail!

Wow, I just made it by getting all my Valentine's cards in the mail today. Hopefully everyone will get them tomorrow.

Here is one last one that I wanted to share with you. I seem to be stuck in the step card mode. I just find them so versatile with what you can do with them.
I was inspired by a card I saw on the internet while surfing one night. You can see it here on Glenda's Cards blogI hope she doesn't mind, but the design was so wonderful and pretty, I just had to make it myself. I did make a few adjustments so it is not a total copy.

I am going to link this up over at Scrappy Moms Stamps Tuesday Challenge which is hearts galore.

Here's how I did it...
Basic A2 size step card
Paper is from the ep 6x6 Yours Truly paper pad and from my scrap box

Yeah- my gypsy now works with the Cricut Mini!!

I am working on the last of my Valentine cards today. Thank goodness for the many challenges out there to push me to come up with some new and fun ideas. I am not the type of crafter that makes one card and duplicates it 12 times. I get too bored with that, so I make lots of different designs..perhaps this is why it always takes me so long to get all my holiday cards done.

The other really cool thing is that Provocraft finally released an update for the Cricut Mini so I can now use it with my gypsy!!!
My little bitty bug will start to travel now- yeah!!

I discovered a "new to me" folded step card over at Stars & Stripes-OWH. So I was inspired to give it a try. I did two different version of a very similar design. ( I couldn't decide which cute bug I wanted to use.)
What a cool and quick way to make a different style card. I love how it stands up so nice. Start with a simple 4.25" x 11" sheet of paper, a few score lines and cuts later you have a great step card. Here is a great tutorial of how to do it- click here.
So along with trying a new fold for this card, I also pulled out my embossing powered for the sentiment. I don't seem to do this a lot, mainly because it does take a bit more time but I do like the end result. Plus, stamping with white ink just never stays totally white once stamp on card stock. at least none that I have used.
Emma over at My Creative Time is a Buggy Challenge also going on now.  Being this is the home of "BugBites" I can't very well pass up this challenge. Thus the little bugs.
One of my favorite monthly blog hops, the  MPS Pinkalicious Blog Hop is going on too. I did link up one project already, but that challenge really is what helped me to finish up these two cards so I am going to link up this project as well.

Finally, Queen of my Craftroom has a Valentine's Day card challenge  that I am going to link up to as well.
Now I need to get back to making the last few cards so I can get them in the mail tomorrow. Hope you all are finding time to craft today!

This is another step card that I have been working on. Couldn't post it before now since I didn't want the recipient to see it early. I think I am in the clear now so I can share it with you now.

I am really happy with how it turned out. Mind you, it was not a card that came together fast. No, I played with it for a few hours before I got it looking exactly how I wanted it.

My first project with a toilet paper roll - oh my!

OK- I have to admit, I have never been a fan of the toilet paper roll projects. There are several out there and they are all fabulous, but it just never struck me as something to use for a craft project.

However, the cool thing about challenges is that they push you to think outside the box and try new things. So here is my first project using an empty toilet paper roll.
I actually found it fun to try and do something with it. I like how it turned out and may even look at other ways to use this new found craft item.
When flattened, the roll is the perfect size to hold a gift card. So this will make a nice valentine gift card holder. I punch some holes on each end and tied it up with Twine from the Twinery to keep the gift card from falling out.

I am linking this up to the following challenges out there....
Peachy Keen Challenge- use an empty toilet paper roll- what started it all!
Cooking with Cricut- red, white and pink, Child's Valentine
My Sheri Crafts- use two hearts challenge
More Than Favors Wacky Wednesday- love challenge
Little Scrap Pieces-  use pink
FCCB- use a heart on your project

If you hop over to these challenge blogs you will see amazing projects from all the Design teams. You can't help but be inspired to create and  join in on the fun!

Here's How I did it....
Empty toilet paper roll
Paper all from my scrap box
Fox/layers cut at 2.5" from Crate a Critter
Face is stamped using Peachy Keen Stamps
Tag cut to size from Once Upon a Princess
Sentiment from Pink by Design
Martha Stewart Border punch
Hearts punched from CM heart punch
Twine from Twinery

I decided I wanted to try a dresser step card. I have seen many ideas out there in the blog world, but have never tried one. Well, today was the day. I finished my first dresser card for a very special person. I cannot post that one today or they will see it before they receive it in the mail. I promise to post it later this week. In the meantime, I had a practice template card cut out and decided to make that into a Valentine. Not sure who I will send it to yet.

I used several cartridges to embellish and make this little scene.

I am also linking this up to the ABC DT Challenge Blog- Red, White and Pink

The Bee's Knees

Here is a treat to buzz about.

I just wrapped a kit kat candy bar with some fun paper and added this little bee from the Paisley cartridge.

A Tiny Valentine

Happy February! Yes, it is really me. I am still here, just been very busy with work the last few weeks. My job has had me working really long days and traveling. The last 2 weeks I have been away from home 9 days and in Phoenix, Orlando and Miami. I am glad to be back home and things getting back to a normal schedule.

I hope that gets me back crafting more frequently again.

This weekend I am going to try and post some things for different challenges going on around the blog world.
