Thank you to a friend

I am on my last morning in Hartford. Heading home tonight- yeah!

I was lucky enough to spend some time with a some work friends while here.

One friend, invited me over twice for dinner at her house. We had a very nice time, so I wanted to do a little thank you card for her.

I only brought a few die cuts with me, so it was a challenge all week to use them with what I had. 

Did I mention before, I left home without a paper trimmer. Yikes!

Well, this friend is a scrapper too and loaned me her trimmer for the last half of the week. 

So here is my Thank You to her.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #60

It's the start of a new week and that means another challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut.

This weeks challenge is "Try this Angle";  make a project with a rectangle and a triangle on it.

I came across this cute bug in Nate's ABCs -Isn't it "buggie".

I almost forgot about this challenge this week because I have been traveling for work, so this was an impulse creation.

I grabbed this cartridge thinking I would use one of the many little cuts with a boy, but when I turned the page and saw this bug, I remembered this sentiment that I saw on a recent stamp purchase from My Creative Time.  The two had to come together for a card.

I am pleased with how it turned out.

I hope you will hop over to Fantabulous Cricut and give this challenge a try as well.

I had this recipe in my recipe cupboard for a while. It was a photo copy with no name, so I am not sure where I got it from.I don't remember having tried it and have never made it. I decided to tray it at a scrap retreat in January. It's always fun to try new recipes with friends. It was really easy and you probably have the ingredients you already have in your pantry. I hope you give it a try and let me know if you like it.

My First Guest Designer project!

Well, here it is. My first post as a Guest Designer. I am so excited!!!

Paula over at More Than Favors asked me to be her Guest Designer for this weeks Wacky Wednesday Challenge.

The challenge this week is a color challenge using the colors blue, yellow and white. 

I needed to make a get well card for a very dear aunt of mine who has been a bit under the weather this last week. Therefore, she was the inspiration for my project. She too, is a big time card maker, scrapper and paper crafter.

I just got the Nate's ABC cartridge this week. When I was looking through the booklet, I came across the umbrella cut and knew instantly, this would be the image for my card to match a sentiment I had been working on. This is a bit of an odd sized card measuring in at 4.5" x 5.25"

 

Here's how I did it...

Glossy Accents, chalk, yellow & brown stickles as well as doodles with my white gel pen

Addition details:

I used my Gypsy to weld the image to the frame from the Creative Memories Reminisce Accents cartridge. I hid many of the little lines on the main image. Cut the frame again using the pattern floral paper without the umbrella image.

I wanted the water puddle to look more like water, so I added Glossy Accents, it is hard to see it in the picture. Once that was dry, I layered everything starting with the frame shadow then add the welded frame image. Next added all the umbrella layers except the boots. Add floral frame with pop-dots. Finally, I added the yellow boots with more pop dots. 

When cutting the boots, you actually have to cut the whole image and then trim the boots out.
